Other DetailsRRB ALP stands for Railway Recruitment Board Assistant Loco Pilot. This exam is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board in multiple languages to recruit assistant loco pilots for different railway zones. Candidates can choose their preferred language while filling out the application form. RRB announces various vacancies for RRB ALP for different zones every year.
The notification for the post of RRB ALP will be released on January 2025, and the exam will be conducted between June and August.

RRB ALP 1st Stage (CBT) Exam Pattern
The first stage of the examination is the screening examination. The candidates who qualify at this stage will only be considered for the further process.
- Exam Duration – 60 minutes
- Examination Language – Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Manipuri, Konkani
- Number of Questions – 75
- Question Types –Multiple Choice Questions
- Marking Scheme – 1 mark for a right answer
- Negative Marking –Minus (one-third) marks for an incorrect answer
RRB ALP 2nd Stage (CBT) Exam Pattern 2025
The second stage of the examination is divided into two parts, i.e. Part A and Part B. Part A marks are considered for the preparing merit list, and Part B is the qualifying exam. In Part A and B papers, (one-third) marks will be deducted for wrong answers.

- Examination Language – Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Manipuri, Konkani
- Number of Questions – 120
Part B
- Exam Duration – 60 Minutes
- Number of Questions – 75
- Negative Marking: No negative marking
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should read the eligibility criteria before filling out the registration form. If the candidates do not meet the eligibility criteria and then he/she will fill out the form, the forms will not be considered for the further recruitment process.
- Nationality –The candidates must be citizens of India or must be the subjects of Nepal and Bhutan.
- Age Limit –18 to 30 years.
- Age Relaxation –The candidates belonging to SC/ST, OBC, and PWD category candidates must be given age relaxation of 5, and 3 years. Finally, for PWD category, the age is mentioned below:
1. PWD (General) 10 years
2. PWD (OBC) 13 years
3. PWD (SC/ST) 15 years.
Education Qualification –
- Assistant Loco Pilot – The candidates should have matriculation / SSLC plus ITI / Course completed ACT apprentices OR Diploma/degree in engineering.
RRB ALP Application Form 2025
The RRB ALP exam application form is available online only, and its exam will be conducted online through computer mode, so students willing to take part in this exam must fill out the online application form we provided here.
Just follow the proper instructions given below and apply for this exam.
- Visit the official website of RRB
- Select the post for which you want to apply
- Register for the exam on the regional RRB website.
- To follow the registration process, open the page and fill in basic details, such as your name, parent’s name, contact information, email, etc.
- After that, you will receive an OTP to process it.
- Once the OTP is validated, process the mail generated for login credentials.
- Log in with the credentials and provide the details asked by the application.
- Upload the documents: signtaure, category certificate (if you are non-general), educational certificate, etc.
- Pay the required amount.
- Download the copy of the application and take out a hard copy. Save it for further use.
RRB ALP Admit Card
The admit cards have not yet been released. On the regional RRB website, you may find the RRB ALP 2025 examination admission card. Follow the given steps to know how to download RRB ALP/Technician admit card:
- Go to RRB’s regional website.
- Click on the “Admit Card” download link
- Enter the username and password correctly
- Once done, admit card appears on your screen
- Download it and take its printout.
